This Poem Needs a BEAT: 50/100 Freestyle by Darrell Herbert the Artivist

50/100 Freestyle by Darrell Herbert

Gone too soon from cancer, rest in peace to Amber
I have more questions and less answers
I'd ask Shelby if she could help me, but she would never tell me, let alone actually accept me
No telly, I quit chasing love after Marisa, or Ashanti, or Sarah, or Esmeralda, or Shania, or maybe Kelly
No tickets, fuck the trophies, and mind your business
I would put her on, but for right now that's off limits
On and off through a tough prison, I hope you listen because I'm bound to end up the one missing
Cross my heart and hope to die as if I was a Christian
Deleted you out of my life and out of my phone
All in all I'm at home while still feeling all alone
How can I grow if I've never grown?
That's like a star blowing up and not having the money blown
Never show love if the love was never shown
Alternating crafty metaphors, our trust issues just got divorced with no help or moral support
Lighting C4's with two bitches and four doors
Yes Lord, I'm at war, it's all forced
I'm not new to this, that shit was sick
Your old bitch is at the latest crib, and meanwhile I heard your newest shit
Hitting her up using the freshest hit-list
It's just a curse and a gift, that's like you slitting your wrist, that's like Bloody Mary holding all of the cards and all of the chips
I hit a point where I couldn't keep going
Saw the signs, but it's never showing
And it'll be a compilation, of bitter lies and truthful preparation, of the great or good and the riches payments, of false hope and your truest statements
Above it all it's underneath the mattress
Addressing those who would question the status
Empress of the soul, I'm the shining white knight without the pips to have a real queen like Letizia or a Gladys
I know they want me dead, but I'm still alive
Still living as if I'm terrified, or petrified of dying while being crucified right in front of the two-faced triple eye
They'll wrap you up and pass it off as gifts
The more I forget about you, the less I forgive
Black sheep, but who's the goat?
We are not the same, we're just in the same boat
Going off on fake friends who just do the most
I'm either taken for granted or taken as a joke
You knew that I was too focused on bitches, that fucked up my image
Now the only time I hear from you is when it involves my birthday wishes
And I remember how I felt that night
You did me wrong while I gave you life
You fucked me over, and you did that shit out of spite, you was on one more than twice
Spit on my coffin before I say goodnight, because the light at the end of the tunnel isn't always bright
Major trust issues, but my real problems were never small
We used to be close, but now I don't hear from you at all
You wouldn't hold me down on my downfall
You called it quits before I got the chance to call
Fake people are just another beautifully penned banger, I keep it close because we're only distant strangers
Single, but I don't give it a single thought
I'd sell my soul since it was never bought
That's like catching feelings that you haven't caught

This Poem Needs a BEAT: "Blacklist Documentary" (by Darrell Herbert)

NEW POEM WRITTEN BY RISING POET DARRELL HERBERT!  PRODUCERS / BEATMAKERS, IF YOU THINK OF A BEAT THAT WOULD SOUND GOOD TO THIS POEM E-MAIL US AT TheBeatYard@yahoo.com

Blacklist Documentary

First name negro, middle name nigga, last name nigger, another suicidal flow about to reload Uncle Sam's trigger without using any fingers
Don't tell me you feel me, show me proof
I'm not a leader for those who follow suit
Where was you when I was hurting?
You can't work it out if you never put the work in
Lynch my freedom, die with the stigma
Of not being a God, or an enigma
Small dose, I don't know because I feel like the distance plays a major role
Took the Xanax, take control
Stripper tease, bitches fold, every gold-digger is not gold
Death's a bitch, life's a hoe
Off the drugs, on the road
In the danger, offing loads
Crossing burning bridges at buried souls
Black on black crime is like a white lie with no closure, it's crazy how the ones you fuck with fuck you over
Left the blood in Kansas, got a nigga in handcuffs, they'll try to knock me down before I even get a chance to stand up, they'll try to snipe me down before I even put my hands up
Heaven on Earth, will we fly again?
My ancestors were raped by different tribal men, they burned the Church, arsenic eyed again
That's fucked up, you told me that you were willing to try again
I'm the living proof of what it means to die again
It's not ironic that they'd call us slaves
Fuck the statue of liberty because those stuck on the blacklist never had a say
Slaving day in and day out for no fucking pay, or minimum wage, and yet, we can't trade our finances with government aid
And that's the kind of shit that I fucking hate, we were kings and queens before they re-routed our mind state
We had to kneel to God and ask him for faith
We had to preach in these cold streets even if the heat would make contact with our face
We had to lose the buses to ride the fucking escape, lighting that spark with no fucking wave
It's a black and white world, which side do you take?
For the time being I am well equipped to say some shit
It's sad how you take a hit, reload the clip, unload the flick, you take a sip, you pass the spliff, you cut your wrist, you suck the colorless dick meanwhile your insecurities are performing tricks, damn, you fucking bitch
And this message is the continuation, if this is child's play, why is there still allegations towards child molestation?
Fuck you all, here's the truth, they'd never play this song, even if they did that shit still would not be in heavy rotation
It's fucked up how they fucked her without a thong
To even say that the rape victims could be wrong
I hate that shit because if the roles were reversed you would slit your own voice box using the pedophile's cordless phone
Burn my words, and erase my tone
Another black nigga tried to make his jail cell a home
Since he can't see his kids, she fucked his friend Jerome
But, little did she know that her daughter gave him dome
It was not because she wanted to do it, he made her moan
Her brother's upstairs dreaming of better a time in Rome
Her mother's in the other room sucking a pimp's dick in exchange for a brand new hair comb
Lean on me, no lean
Holy, them O.G's just O.D.
Are you a friend or just another enemy?
Selling your soul is putting financial gain over artistic integrity
Coporations are pimping blacks, and black pimps just count their stacks meanwhile all of their hookers are sniffing that white crack, it's not opinion, that's just facts
But, do you ever feel the rage inside a maze?
Why do you think I had to part ways?
Slave owner who's still a slave
A bird in a lost cage, an addict with no phase, a story-teller with no phrase, and a slight sinner with darker days
Guilty consciousness, a mug
My condolences to the victims of the Pulse night club
With the lights out, it's less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
Do you know what I mean?
Smells like teen spirit back when we were still fiends
A white police officer raped a fifteen year black teen while she was still in her jeans
My people need some fucking reparations for all of the injustice unseen
A country controlled by one, these ideologies and scientific philosophies run
A movement that's philosophical, corrupt warfare is idealogical, bringing awareness towards African customs, values, and traditions have become possible
The judge does not give a fuck
I mean this trial won't take long, especially since they decide what's right and what's wrong
If this is the land of the free, why are my people still locked in chains?
Unforgiving land, or unforgiving say
Deformed into a robotic state, we were not programmed that way, they use reality shows to reality-check our self-hate
Fuck your red, white, and blue, we all slaves

Artist of the Week: Blakk North

Check out The Beat Yard featured artist of the week, Blakk North!  Blakk North recently dropped his album CREATION with the project mostly entirely produced by Blakk North himself!  The album mostly has a synthesized, keyboard sound with a dash of West Coast, Daz Dillinger flavor added to the mix!  Although the beats on this project are decent, the REAL highlight of this anthology is not the production, however it's Blakk North's lyrics and subject matter.  Blakk touches on a lot of deep subjects and issues all through this project, and that alone is worth the listen!

Pyrex Apollo brings Fire Production to King Mook's Black P.O.E.T. project!

Prestigious hip hop producer Pyrex Apollo brings FIRE beats and production to up and coming Georgia stationed lyricist King Mook's newly released project Black P.O.E.T.!  The 6 track EP was entirely, exclusively produced by Pyrex, which gives it a cohesive sound and not all over the place like some of today's hip hop anthologies.  Although Pyrex Apollo composes each of the track on this solid masterpiece, each song manages to stand out and stand alone without sounding repetitive.  Pyrex certainly keeps things interesting with giving each beat it's own unique flavor while maintaining the essence of his signature sound.

Bottom line, if you want to hear some HOT ASS BEATS along with refreshing lyrics with substance then you will certainly want to download this EP.  Click the link below to download and listen to this work of art http://www.audiomack.com/album/king-mook-1/black-poet

Beat Talk: K.W. the Artisan Interview

Check out our exclusive, one on one interview with young rising indie hip hop recording artist K.W. The Artisan.  In this interview with The Beat Yard he talks about new mixtape Paradise Phone Home, favorite producers, who he would like to collaborate with and more!  Read all about it below.

The Beat Yard:  What's going on K.W. the Artisan?
K.W. The Artisan:  Nothing much. Everything is everything. I can't complain.

The Beat Yard:  You have a mixtape out right now, Paradise Phone Home, could you tell the readers a little something about the mixtape?
K.W. The Artisan:  The mixtape is dope!  It tells story about the path to paradise and what paradise really is.  It contains skits from an anime called "Wolf's Rain." I have a few features, a bunch of bars and even a few songs for the ladies.  There's something for everybody on this one.

The Beat Yard:  What type of beats can be found on this project?
K.W. The Artisan:  There's a couple of 90's beats, a few familiar samples, and some original beats.

The Beat Yard:  Who are your favorite producers / beatmakers?
K.W. The Artisan:  Dr. Dre, Kanye West, Timbaland, Organized Noise, DJ Quik, No I.D., Pharrell, Pete Rock, DJ Premier just to name a few.

The Beat Yard:  Do you producer or make any beats yourself?  If so what do you use?
K.W. The Artisan:  I am just getting into it. I just bought a keyboard from my homie and I'm going to try Garage Band until I get good enough to buy a program.

The Beat Yard:  What producers / beatmakers would you like to work with in the future?
K.W. The Artisan:  Any of the producers listed above. A J. Cole and Big K.R.I.T. collaboration would be dope.

The Beat Yard:  Are you picky about beats or are you the type of artist that can pretty much ride any type of beat?
K.W. The Artisan:  I'm not that picky at all. I listen to a wide range of music so as long as I like it, I can pretty much rap over it.
I am actually. I'm just looking to collaborate with other artists in general. My email is kwtheartisan@gmail.com. My instagram and twitter is @kwtheartisan. My website is www.higherupsuniversity.com
