Beat Talk: New Interview with Mono Bagends about GET FLY SUMMER

Mono Bagends talks to us here at the Beat Yard about his beat choices on his latest EP GET FLY SUMMER along with answering questions about his clothing line.  Read all about what he had to say here......

The Beat Yard:  Hey what's up Mono Bagends?
Mono Bagends:  Life is great and full of blessings.  Just trying to enjoy everyday and make God proud of me.

The Beat Yard:  How hot is it in New York right now?
Mono Bagends:   In the 90's or high 80's

The Beat Yard:  Lets talk about the Beats on your latest project "Get Fly Summer", how is the production on this EP?
Mono Bagends:   It's dope...every track is a banger. Mostly fast paced club music.

The Beat Yard:  What producers did you work with for the project?
Mono Bagends:   D-Sharp, T-Weezy, Roc1, Luis Hazlip Jr and Sho-Down.

The Beat Yard:  What would you say the best beat on the EP is?
Mono Bagends:  Right Now and Get Sexy For Me are my favorites but all of them are cool.

The Beat Yard:  Would you say that you have a good ear for beats?
Mono Bagends:   Exceptional....its something I take pride in.

The Beat Yard:  Do you have a particular method for selecting the tracks you end up using?
Mono Bagends:   Not really. Most of the time I'm not looking for anything in particular...when producers ask me I tell them I'll know when I hear it. They will play me a bunch of tracks and I pick out what I want.

The Beat Yard:   Is the clothing line, Get Fly Summer a reflection of the actual EP?
Mono Bagends:  Yes in a way. It wasn't planned that way but I had all these summer time feel good fun songs and the clothing line opportunity fell into my lap so it made sense to do it. I hooked up with Merch Direct to make the clothing line happen.

The Beat Yard:  What makes the Get Fly Summer apparel so fly?
Mono Bagends:  Its cool looking tanks and t-shirts. It represents that you are enjoying your summer and making the most out of it. That's what everyone wants to do for the summer....they want to GET FLY.

The Beat Yard:  Where can viewers check out the apparel?
Mono Bagends:  www.monobagends.com For a limited time if you purchase a tank top or t-shirt you receive the EP complimentary.

Beat Talk: Ron Beatty

Check out our latest interview with rising Carolina based Hip Hop Recording artist Ron Beatty.  In this interview Ron talks about his latest single, favorite producers, his process for selecting beats, favorite instrumentals and much more!  Read all about him and what this fresh new artist has to say!

The Beat Yard:  How are you feeling right now Ron Beatty?
Ron Beatty:  Life's Grand.  Everything is on the up and up.  Whats happening?

The Beat Yard:  Could you tell us about your new single "Heard About Me"?
Ron Beatty:  Yea man.  It wasn't meant to be the first single, but it worked.  We were going to drop another joint until a lot of the feedback pushed us to put that one out.  I think it was the best route being it told my story the best.  A lot of people don't really know me, or haven't heard about me I should say.  So it gave them an idea of who I am. Before I kill it.  Before I really show people what's about to go down.  The calm before the storm.

The Beat Yard:  Who produced the song?
Ron Beatty:  Kilo Davinci, my little brother and one of Life's Grand top producers.

The Beat Yard:  For those that have yet to hear the single, how would you describe the beat?
Ron Beatty:  Hypnotizing.  Engaging.  It brings you to a place of freedom and peace man. It's the sample.  That smooth ass sample gets people.  It took me home.  So I wrote the verses about home and my journey.  People will always connect with the truth.  So I wasn't trying to kill it or anything.  I just told some of what I've been through.

The Beat Yard:  Who are some of the producers / beatmakers you work with?
Ron Beatty:  Black Jeruz who is former G Unit producer.  Travis Cherry who has joints out right now with Raheem Devaughn that's killing the charts.  Soul Keyz.  A whole lot of producers outside of my crew actually, but I go to my guys first.  And that's Kilo Davinci, Streetzmentor, Nerv, and Big Vizzion throws me a jewel once every 2 years or some shit (he laughs).

The Beat Yard: What type of beats bring out the best in what you do?Ron Beatty:   Ones that ride.  I ride a lot.  So I want my music to hit, have bass, and knock, and ride.  Has to have that bounce and be universal.  Not trap though.  Not really a trap style artist, but I love the 808s in those type of beats.  I just freak them in my own way.  It works, but I'm versatile so I can really do anything.  But I structure every project to have a sound so it doesn't confuse people.

The Beat Yard:  What types of sounds do you mostly enjoy hearing in beats?
Ron Beatty: As I just said, I like 808s.  Dope weird drum patterns.  I'm really also liking beats with less instruments in them.  Gives me more room to create.  I love strings too and Streetzmentor is the guy for that.  Trying to stray away from a bunch of samples, as I don't want them in my pockets before I really get paid you know.

The Beat Yard:  What are 3 of your favorite instrumentals?
Ron Beatty: "Guess Who's Back" by Scarface, Beans and Jay. Ummm..."Explosive" off Dre's 2001 joint, and Mobb Deep's "Survival of the Fittest".

The Beat Yard:  Who are your favorite producers?
Ron Beatty: Kanye West, Just Blaze, Zaytoven, and my producers.

The Beat Yard:  Do you buy beats?
Ron Beatty: I will if it's dope enough.  I am an advocate for buying beats if that's what you're asking.

The Beat Yard: Do you like being in the studio with the producer or do you prefer them to send you a track and you go to your own studio?
Ron Beatty: I'm hands on man.  I like to be there in the flesh.  Picking out the beat, getting it produced up and all. I like to leave and write though, or go in another area and write it.  Sometimes with the beat on loop and just leave me be. I care about the message more than I do just a bunch of hot punchlines and shit, so I have to reflect, and that can take time. Can I write a dope ass verse on the spot?  Yes.  But most timeless songs are more than just hot ass verses.  They take you to the place you heard the song, and that comes from physically, mentally, and emotionally being there working on the record and doing whatever it takes to make that happen.

The Beat Yard: What would you like to tell the readers about yourself that they may not already know?
Ron Beatty: I'm coming for everybody's head on my next project.  Nobody is safe.  Nobody.  That's all.  Not on some battle rap shit, but on some, you're gonna have to make an incredible project to even compete. Manifest Destiny.  That is all.

Beat Talk: Az-Iz talks about his upcoming prjects!

Rising indie hip hop recording artist Az-Iz talks about his upcoming projects, mixtapes, buying beats and MORE in this one on one, in-depth interview with The Beat Yard.  Check out what he has to say here in the interview below.

The Beat Yard:  Hey Az-Iz could you tell our readers a little bit about yourself?  Could you introduce yourself?
Az-Iz:  I’m just a regular guy.  I like sports, food, beer and music (laughs), but I am a highly motivated individual.  I’ve never been one to just “settle”.  Ever since I was a little kid, I remember always having a vision, a dream, a plan. Granted, that dream changed SEVERAL times growing up, I ALWAYS had aspirations to be GREAT.  I come from a hood in one of the poorest communities in our country, Detroit, Michigan. So, growing up, I experienced and saw the worst in people and our country and I believe that is part of my drive to be more, to be better.

The Beat Yard: You are currently working on a mixtape and your self titled album Az-Iz, could you tell the readers what type of beats the listeners can expect to hear on this project?
Az-Iz:   Well, I can tell you that the selection will be a reflection of myself.  There will be a nice variety of music on the album AND the mixtape.  The entire album will feature beats from Young Goku, Young B, and Beatamatix while the mixtape will feature beats from those 3 producers as well as a few “remixes” of popular songs.  There will be new-school club beats, trap beats, classic beats as well as some story music. I bring variety and originality to the table. #snowdat

The Beat Yard:  What types of beats bring out the best in what you do?
Az-Iz:   Really, I do not lean towards a specific beat “type”, I get into any music that I can “feel”.  Basically, if it’s a quality beat, it allows me to be at the top of my game.  The type and BPM really doesn’t have an impact.  I’m a fan of MANY music genres.  My two favorite bands are Pink Floyd and Green Day, BIG difference just between those two.  I have a diverse pallet when it comes to my music taste (laughs)

The Beat Yard:   What types of sounds do you enjoy hearing in beats the most?
Az-Iz:   I’m definitely a fan of hats and kick drums, but really, I enjoy anything different that works together. A GREAT example is what my boy Young Goku did with the instruments on the beat to my upcoming single, “Time Is Money”. Ya’ll will definitely have to check that out when it dropped WORLDWIDE on May 5th.

The Beat Yard:  Who are some of the producers you are working with for these upcoming projects?
Az-Iz: (laughs) Guess I got a little too detailed earlier. The 3 producers I will be working with on my album are Beatamatix, Young Goku, and Young B. My mixtape will be featuring a larger variety of producers, but mostly those three at the core of everything I do.

The Beat Yard:  Who are some producers or beatmakers that you would like to work with in the future?
Az-Iz:   I’m actually REALLY happy with the quality and variety I get out of my 3 producers, but, if I were given the opportunity, I would LOVE to work with beats from David Banner, Swizz Beatz, & Manny Fresh just to name a few.

The Beat Yard:   Who are your favorite producers?
Az-Iz:  MY producers are my favorite producers, they will be household names VERY soon: Beatamatix, Young Goku and Young B.

The Beat Yard:   What are your top 5 favorite instrumentals?
Az-Iz:  “Shook Ones” – Mobb Deep
“5 On It” – The Luniz
“Rubberband Man” – T.I.
“Time Is Money” – Az-Iz
“Hate It or Love It” – The Game

The Beat Yard:  For up and coming producers that would like to submit beats to you, how do they go about doing that?
Az-Iz:  Send all beats and beat snippets (with price details) to OfficialAzIzTV@gmail.com
Do not send them if you are going to get mad when they get rejected. Constructive criticism is part of this business and just like my music is not for everybody, not all beats are for everybody. But I am always open to working with new talent.

The Beat Yard: Do you buy beats?
Az-Iz:  Yes I do. I buy ALL my beats except for remixes for mixtapes of course.

The Beat Yard:  Do you prefer a producer to send you a track, or do you like producers to be more hands on with you in the studio?
Az-Iz:  Both suit me just fine.  It’s always nice to work with a producer, but I find that most producers work best when you give them an idea and let them run with it. It’s WHAT THEY DO.

The Beat Yard:  Is there anything else you would like to mention or plug in this interview that we haven't touched on?
Az-Iz:  BIG shout out to South East Hip-Hop Magazine for all the support and hard work behind my movement, SNOWDAT! Also, shout out to everyone with my team, GMT (Grown Man Team) as well as my family at the Realistik Network. You GOT TO have a solid team around you that you can trust and I am blessed with JUST that. Shout out to the artists that will be featuring on my album including Keyz 2 Tha Game, General Grown, Sweets, and a few more. Also, MAKE SURE you grab your copy of “Time Is Money” on May 5th from either Amazon, GooglePlay, iTunes or ANY OTHER digital media retailer and get ready for the release of my upcoming album. CW3: Reloaded Vol. 1

CW3:  Reloaded Vol. 2

The Beat Yard:  How is your 2015 so far DJ Nero Maserati?
DJ Nero Maserati:  So far so good. Making some major moves.  Putting together more Mixtapes.  Blessed all the way around the board.

The Beat Yard:   Tell us a little bit about your latest mixtape CW3: Reloaded.
DJ Nero Maserati:  It's a Classic.  Filled with a lot of great music from some very talented artists that's on the rise. They are all industry ready songs.  I structured the Mixtape to have continuous flow.  When you listen to it you can actually play it in it's entirety until you find your favorite song or songs that goes with your mood.  It's a very well rounded Mixtape.

The Beat Yard:   What type of beats can listeners here on this mixtape?
DJ Nero Maserati:  There are all types of production on this Mixtape.  I don't just go for a particular sound.  I like for my Mixtapes to have range.  So that I can reach everyone instead of boxing myself in and appealing to just one audience.

The Beat Yard:  What type of beats / tracks do you enjoy listening to?
DJ Nero Maserati:  Honestly I love music.  Depending on my mood at the time.  By me being an Urban DJ I get a chance to hear a lot of great production on all levels.  So it's hard for me to say I enjoy this sound more then any other.

The Beat Yard:  When selecting music for your mixtapes is there a certain sound that you go for?
DJ Nero Maserati:   Actually my titles sets my sounds.  It's like the title of a book or movie basically tells you what your in store for.  CW3 RELOADED had my mind set at an up beat bouncy flow. Not on a twerk level but more on that action/adventure movie sound.  You know thrilling.  No dull moments period from one song to the next.

The Beat Yard:   Who are your favorite beatmakers / producers?
DJ Nero Maserati:   Old School Producers:  DJ Premier, Dr. Dre, J Dilla (r.I.p.), No ID, Kanye West, Pharell, Mannie Fresh, DaWreck... New School Producers:  Band Camp, Dj Mustard, Mike Will, Jahlil, Xcel, Trak Surge, J Cole... Just to name a few at both levels.

The Beat Yard:   What's one of your favorite produced tracks on your current mixtape?
DJ Nero Maserati:  All of them.  Each song to me is super #DOPE or they wouldn't be on my project.

The Beat Yard:   How would you describe the beat selection on your current mixtape CW3: Reloaded?
DJ Nero Maserati:  Up Beat. Full of action. Keeps your attention. Give you that bounce. Have you feeling good from the first to the last track.

The Beat Yard:  Is there anything else you would like to say?
DJ Nero Maserati:  Be on the look out for me cause I'm here to stay. CHICAGO'S HOTTEST DJ NERO MASERATI. Check my collection out on SPINRILLA: www.spinrilla.com/artists/djneromaserati... Shout out to my Management Chi Ann Management.  Shout to The Beat Yard for the opportunity to speak the masses with this interview. #SALUTE
