[NEWS] Producer PHILONIUS PHUNK'S signature sound is becoming more and more Popular among a New Generation

 

          The Nerdcore Hip Hop genre is briskly becoming popular among a new audience.  Nerdcore hip hop is a sub genre of music where it's vocalists usually rhyme about subject matter centered around the interests of hobbyists, geeks and nerds such as science fiction, comic books, anime, video games, Martial Arts films, and more.  The artists in the genre also rap over instrumentals either inspired by or sampled from video games, and sci-fi movies.  Although the genre has been growing since the mid 90s and originated with acts such as MC Frontalot, and MC Chris and popularized by legendary artists such as Mega Ran and the late MF Doom there is one budding beatmaker / producer that is currently taking the genre to the next level by bridging the gap between the nerdcore music scene and traditional hip hop fans and artists and that composer goes by the name of Philonius Phunk.

 

 

Philonius Phunk is the founding member and resident producer of the popular Nerdcore rap band S.P.F. As a young teenager, California native, ShaqO found a passion in music which eventually led him to playing the clarinet in his school band. All the while, unfortunately the perspective of playing in a band wasn't necessarily the most 'popular' thing to do in high school, it later led him into freestyling. After taking that approach more seriously, he then soon after released his first tape senior year. 

Today, ShaqO is known to many as “the people’s handicap”. He's an independent artist from the Inland Empire determined for greatness and he's not allowing any obstacles to get in his way.
